Hello!

I am back after some time and -as it looks as if my life will be worth recording- I will be reporting my news again.

Recently -While He was away- I spent six weeks living with Mandy Ford and family and especially my new friend Brenden. They live a much more interesting life than the Boss and we have been everywhere.

The most interesting was when I went to help sheep gathering.

I soon got the hang of it and got the sheep pointing in the right direction.

The main thing is to get your strength up ready for the next challenge.

Kerri Brian and three SUMDs (skinny ugly mutant dogs) have arrived in the islands and are going to live at South Harbour on West Falkland. Because they have to be under house arrest for two weeks I have been farmed out and as the arrest ends today we shall meet later. It will be good to catch up with them all.
We (The Boss and I) are going with them so I shall have my work cut out in the next few weeks showing them the ropes! We are off via the ferry on Thursday and I might be able to catch with my chum Boom on the way.
I will keep you informed on how I get on!

He is back!

He has returned from his travels but has been too busy to help with the blog and keep the world informed about my life. However I had a great time with Jazz but was pleased to see him back and he did bring me some presents -even if I do detect the hand of Kerri involved in the purchase.

On our walk the other day I was trotting the path along investigating things that needed it and minding my own business when there and behold there blocking my way was a penguin(Spheniscus magellanicus to those of who know)!

It was a bit embarrassing really as I was not sure what to do

He seemed to be doing his morning exercises or just trying to impress me!

I am sure a Basset could do that with some practice

Finally I did manage to squeeze past trying not to disturb him. (It is a pity that he did not afford me the same courtesy).

I think I shall stick to the hills from now on. Plenty of space and no irritating birds who think they are fish!

By the way contrary to popular beliefs penguins can fly!

He is Off Again!

HE is off again and I am going to stay with Jazz for a couple of weeks!! HE is off to Spain (where it mainly rains?) for a meeting and will be staying with Kerri, Brian and the SUMDs before coming home. I hope that HE brings me something nice!

I suppose I should try and look as though I will miss him

but two weeks with Jazz will be a gas!
Last week we went mountain climbing.
I am not sure if I like heights! But it certainly sharpened my appetite.
I even ate Diddle Dee berries!

Not that nice but it settled the stomach
( AJ and UT like them)

BTW what is this about Easter Eggs? HE tells me that they are not for Dogs! (something about chocolate being bad for me) They should make Bonio Easter Eggs!

CRUFTS?

My sister and brother have become famous as they appeared at Crufts this year! Actually I am famous already so I do not need to make an exhibition of myself! Although I am sure that I would be able to show them a thing or two!

Am I not a well set up Basset?

My ears well exceed the minimum size.

Feet perfect.

My tail is "gay"
No problem with the jowls.

The only problem things seem to fall apart sometimes!

No matter how I try!I am going to have to think this out

I am sorry that I have not been writing my Blog recently but the Boss has been very busy and I had forgotten my password!

By-Election

There is going to be a by-election here soon and they are calling for nominations.

I don't think that I shall stand as I have too much to do,
and I am waiting for a vacancy for the Governor's job

However I think I know exactly the right candidate!

LUCA!
VOTE FOR LUCA!!

I cannot think of an election slogan which would catch on at the moment. Any ideas?

I'm Back at last!

Hi everybody! I am sorry that I have not been posting but my Dad tells me that he has had computer problems. (I think it is because he is too lazy and has been painting those pictures again!)

Since I last posted we have had lots of visitors in the Islands including 250 veterans from 1982. They had a big brass band and lots of bagpipes (I think I would like to learn to play the bagpipes or perhaps the trombone! -it is the bone bit that interests me!-) It was great to see them and I would like to say Hi to Adrian who really knew how to talk to a Basset!

Since then the weather has been very cold and we have even had snow!

A Basset should only go out there when nature calls
and then hurry back

and come in and wrap up well!

I did try to keep my spirits up

and look cute for everybody

However things have improved and I managed to get Dad out for a walk.
even though there was still snow on the hills!

Am I growing into a handsome Basset?Crufts next year?

By the way Luca's granddad arrived today from New Zealand and we have both promised to make sure that he gets lots of walks!

This time last year I was getting ready to sail away on my ship. It seems ages ago!

Digging Holes!

Luka has been teaching me about digging!

I'm not sure what he is digging for but I think it must be food!

Let a basset have a look!

"There is nothing here Luca!"

!!
He won't be able to do that sort of thing when I am Governor!

Oh yes and I have a new picture of Boom. Is he turning into a SUMD?

He certainly seems to be adopting their habits!

Sorry I Have Been Just too Busy!

I am sorry that I have not updated you on my activities recently but I have been just too busy!!

I have had to entertain Kerrio while my dad has been at meetings. She is inclined to get very tired in the evening so I have to keep her Company as she has left Brian at home!

(She just can't cope with the long walks!)

At this time in the Falklands the elephant seals come ashore and it has been pointed out that they may have some connection with the bassets.

Is this the origin of the 'Flat Basset'?

?

Their sleeping habits seem similar too!

Can't stop! I smell mutton shanks cooking! (My favourite!)

Will be back soon

Patience is rewarded....

I am such a patient Basset... I have waited...

And waited....

And waited....

And waited....

(of course the fact that I have Sally to take me for lots and lots of long walks and Jazz to play with DOES help).

Now finally my Dad is HOME!!!

And I am in Basset Heaven.

Just a Basset Boy and his dad... on a beach... at dawn.
