Boarding the boat

Here are some pictures of me setting off on the "Hartland Point" on a very foggy day - can they see where to sail in all this fog?

And here is my "Ticket" that Hils did for me (Thanks Hils!):

My first look at my private cabin (first class with squeaky pig installed).

Me mooching about in my cabin checking out the toys

And here is a picture of me with my new bestest friend Gary...

And just one last goodbye to my foster mum.....

GJ's 'Going Away' card...

Gosh, my pals, they all clubbed together with their bonio money and got me a leaving card...

(* Click to see a larger version of the card)
(** You may need to make sure your browser can display animated images, this is a 'two page' gif file)

It makes a Basset feel quite overwhelmed.

I hope they might come to visit and meet all my new friends in the Falkland Islands.

Lots of love everyone,

Jackson (General)

oOo

Hi everyone out there in "Internet Land", as Meggie Moo would say.

We hope that you have had as much fun reading this FIRST PART of the 'General Jackson Tapes' as we have had recording them.

They WILL continue in the New Year ;-)

We would be delighted if you could take a few moments to 'sign' Jackson's card, by adding a comment to the bottom of this post (click on COMMENTS and scroll to the bottom of the dialog to add yours, then click the orange 'publish' button). We would be thrilled if you click 'Name' (instead of anonymous) to just add your initials and where you're from too.

Jackson made a special request, that if you have laughed out loud - let him know what your favourite episode was!

And as a final hope from Kerri and Brian - please consider buying an extra tin of pet food, and put it at the front of the shop for rescue animals.

Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year

Last walk, and off we go.

Well - the day has arrived...

Just before I set out - I want to tell you that I am most definitely a BIG DOG now. BIG DOGS ride in the back of the car....

See? It's true....

Mind you - on my LAST walk here I went on the back seat with the even BIGGER DOGS.

Time for one last pestering of Cleo (I do so like to chase her....)

One last pose in the dark with the Bootsie the black dog

Whisper farewell to my best mate Tealeaf

One last roach in the big dog's bed...

Bye bye Jamieson dogs... thanks for showing me "the way of the lurcher".

Xmas Decos...

... with ME as Artistic Director !

OK! PULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL !!!!!!!

Hold on a moment! Last time we needed a great big hole!

Everything I touch turns to - well - bronze sprayed plastic !

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO embarassed!

Mind you look at this idiot!

I wonder what Santa will bring me ?

Yurk! The foster daddy is getting ALL emotional !

Merry Xmas everyone - from Tigh Gadhar!

Am I ready?

Are my ears clean? Can't possibly be seen on board the 'Hartland Point' with DIRTY EARS !!!

Right they look ok - now what do I need for a sea voyage? Now, apparently there are no shops on board the good ship 'Hartland Point'. Hmmmm.

OK, so I may need to be prepared (like all the best Basset Scouts)!

Alright then...

1) One puppy den and BIG bed - plump.

2) One water bowl - ear proof.

3) One feeding dish - best make that two !

4) One set of TOYZ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5) Provisions for the voyage.

6) Some Things To Chew.

I may need to check my list twice - it seems complicated to a BFBP.

I think I'm ready..... Did I cancel the milk?

The Basset Poem

With apologies to Pam Ayres

I am a Basset Puppy,
Sitting in me hutch,
I like to chew on Sky controls,
I don't like dog toys, much,
I'm glad today is Sunday,
'Cause with a bit of luck,
While the humans munch on pancake rolls,
I'll steal their crispy duck.

Not long till I'm all at sea...

Well, Me Hearties (did I get that right?) !

I now have confirmation of my sailing date, I will be leaving these shores on the 19th December to go on my Transatlantic cruise on 'The Hartland Point' skippered by a really nice chap called Dave Guy and his crew of merry men.

Do I need to bring a rubber ring?

These are some piccies of my liner, boat, ship, ferry, err, err (Look - I'm only a BFBP - I don't know what it's called, I'm sure Dave will fill me in on the nautical terms)...

And this is it being fixed (I think my foster-daddy may have been driving it)...

Apparently there's a rumour that I will be allowed to drive.
Here's where I will steer.

And here is where we'll end up - the Falkland Islands.

Now is that the right way up ? Bassets are not very good at Geography you know.

I can't wait, I will be packing my bags this weekend in preparation, though unfortunately this means yet ANOTHER visit to the V.E.T. Oh No!

The Case of the Missing Slipper

Now a lot of fuss has been made about a certain missing slipper and accusations were flying, and fingers were undeservedly being pointed at a certain BFBP.

This BFBP does not like to snitch, but....

Did you mean THIS slipper?

I found it in the cupboard where those pesky cleaners hid it from me.

Happiness is...

The Business of Being a Basset is fraught with responsibilities... it's my job to keep everyone amused, on their toes (sorry about the sky remote....) and in touch with their INNER Basset. Sometimes a boy just has to relax.

Happiness is:

A spot on the sofa in the sun...

Yesterday's newspapers...

A head to lie on...

A security wolfhound...

A friend to play with when ever you want to...

Someone else's bed to doodle on...

A chum who does not fart in your face...

And a hand to hold your paw...

(no one else can fill MY paws...it's a hard life... Being a Basset)

Sigh...

My daddy is still not back at home...

He may have required more than just one microchip.

He may have required a MACROchip. (I wonder if he's Dual Core ?)
Ewwwww !

Until he comes back - I shall maintain my 24 x 7 vigil.

I am an e-Basset, and know ALL the jargon.

Putty & Puppy relationships.

My dad is off for a few days and I already miss him, cos I love my dad LOTS.
I am worried - there is no-one to carry him to the car once the microchip has been inserted !

But maybe, just maybe, I miss his pork pies even more......

However, Boots is a good substitute... cos he is putty in my paws.

On the other hand, when it comes to Tealeaf, I really love him too...
I am putty in his paws - "Kiss me Hardy"

This little piggie...

... is unlikely to live long enough to 'go to market'.

Unless it's as sausages...

Thinking about it - it won't get to market as sausages EITHER.

I don't BELIEVE it !

After ALL the strict instructions about not 'dressing' me up, etc...

My daddy makes me look like a cowboy !

The HUMILIATION of it all !

I can't BEAR to look at the camera.
