Two dogs are better than one!

Luca and I went to a new beach today which had some very interesting things to look at

Curious Smells

Could do with a tidy up!

Luca shows Me what to do

Definitely requires two dogs

We had a tug of war with this one
Later:

Just after this the rope broke!

Luca demonstrated collie levitation!

Amazing!

I demonstrated Basset gravitation!( similar to Transcendental Meditation)

I discovered today that -nose to tail- I am about 1.4 meters long! (pity about the legs)

Shakespeare and all that Jazz!

Did you know that Bassets are even mentioned in Shakespeare?

Midsummer Night's Dream (Act 4, Scene1.):

Thesus:

"My hounds are bred out of the Spartan kind,"

"So flewed, so sanded,"

"and their heads are hung with ears that sweep away the morning dew;"

"Crook-kneed,"

"and dewlapped like Thessian bulls;"

"Slow in pursuit, but matched in mouth like bells,"
Luca is coming to stay for a week tomorrow!! I can't wait. (Although I am not sure how the Boss is going to manage with two of us!)
I will keep you posted!!

Don't Panic Everything is Fine!!

Don't worry everybody; I went to the V.E.T.'s on Tuesday for a minor operation (Luca tells me that it is a sort of initiation ceremony or something like that) Sarah and Joe were very kind and gave me a lot of fuss when I woke up and then I went for a walk on the beach!

Sarah sent this picture of the ceremony.

Afterwards the beach was perfect!

Then I had a tasty bone (Mutton My Favorite)

Today I was on hand to greet all my tourists who come to see me!
(These people all came from Malta. They all came off a big cruise liner)

After that a BBC TV man came to film me!! (I got fed up being told to do the same thing over and over again so I laid down Basset fashion!)

Life is busy for what used to be a small Basset!

PS. I still Love Sarah! She is my favorite Veterinary Nurse (she can nurse me anytime)
Joe is my favorite V.E.T!

Sun and Sand !!

Some people have been asking how big I am now. I am 20 kilos (not sure what 20 kilos but I'm told that it is a big bag of biscuits!)

This is Luca and ME

We went to investigate the sand dunes on Sunday. They were amazing, just like warm snow!!

Full of interesting smells!

made new footprints!

Found special things!

My feet got bogged occasionally!!

Here I come!!

Sorry can't Stop!!

This is real Basset Country!

With practice I might be able to fly!

Thank Heaven there are some puddles to drink!

I went to the V.E.T.s today, Sarah and Joe were there which made it easier but I don't wish to talk about it just yet!

My Morning Routine

Sometimes my dad gets me up just too early. He doesn't seem to understand that a growing Basset needs his sleep. However I soon wake up when he leaves the car window open for me to get some fresh air!

It is difficult to wake up some mornings

However once on the beach I start to enjoy myself

and set off 0n my own

I have to search the beach for new things
Just checking now and again that Dad is OK

And bring him things he should look at

He is a bit slow sometimes

However a Basset must do what a Basset has to do:

And 'Boldly Go Where No Basset Has Gone Before'

I have another appointment with Sarah at the V.E.T.s on Tuesday.

So much to do so little time..............

Gardens, Cats and Things:

When I visited Luca's house I had a good look round the garden and Luca and I did 'dog things' together. He has a nice garden but you cannot see the sea.

Doing Dog Things

I thought there were no trees in the Falklands! Luca has lots!

This is Cass (Luca's Cat friend)

She looked quite normal until she saw me! She must have spoken to Emile!
Cats are strange things. They do not seem to like friendly Bassets! I am not sure why. I wag my tail and put on my nicest friendly Basset face which everybody likes (I am going to have to work on my making friends with cats technique. It works everywhere else!)

I had to go to the beach to think things over.

As the saying goes: 'The problem with cats is that they get exactly the same look whether they see a moth or an ax-murderer'

Funny things Cats!!

On the Beach

Luca and I met up at the beach today. We had a wonderful time although Luca didn't seem to want me to get the ball for him! But he was very nice about it. (although I could not keep up anyway!)

We meet again!

Getting some instruction on how a Collie does it

The soft sand is hard on my short legs

I will be able to keep up when I am older!

I am not sure about the waves

The sand certainly gets up a short dog's nose

Perhaps the best thing is to just wait for Luca to come back

There is no place like home

I had a really nice morning today when I went to visit Archie, Corrinne, Paicey and Emil. Emil did not seem pleased to see me but we managed alright. Archie and I had a great time!

After the beach we all went to Luca's house and I met Cassie the cat. She had not seen a Basset before and she turned into an even more strange shape that Emil did. Funny things cats! I will write about them tomorrow.
